Minnesota Lakeside Residence

This lakeside residence was composed of a series of linked stone, copper and glass pavilions arranged in a roughly linear pattern, reminiscent of logs floating in a river. Retaining walls and long pavers were arranged in a similar pattern to create terraces on raised plinths adjacent to the house. Plantings of native species create perimeter screening and stabilize vegetated swales leading to an infiltration basin. More intricately planted gardens occupy principal views from certain rooms. Prairie plantings at the lakeshore inspired more densely planted bars of native shrubs and flowers arranged similarly to the walls and pavers.
