Kingston Bay Residence
partially with Lyman Perry Architects
Project completed while a Principal with Stephen Stimson Associates
An existing free-form swimming pool and conventional suburban landscape were renovated with a series of projects over 5 years. Stone retaining walls and steps were used to clarify grade changes among many areas, and to link the various areas into an aesthetic whole. A rectangular pool related to the building architecture, and was equipped with an autocover for energy efficiency. Extensive lawn areas were planted as meadow to reduce maintenance input, with mown paths providing for a variety of routes among buildings, gardens, orchard, grape arbor, pond and beach. The driveway, parking area and entry garden were designed to lead visitors to the front door rather than the side entry. Native and adapted plantings provide extensive flower color during the growing season.
