Project completed while a Principal with Stephen Stimson Associates
Replacement of a one story wing of the building with a four story wing required renovation of the courtyard and street front of this 1973 landmark building. The courtyard abuts a corridor and café and is heavily used by café patrons in search of outdoor space. The design allows for a variety of seating choices and barrier free circulation, with plantings that emphasize early spring bloom. Drainage design, ventilation and access for the building below the courtyard was critical. The streetscape landscape is almost entirely on structure, and provides for ADA access to the main door and a continuation of street trees along Oxford Street.
