An existing house on a hilltop afforded extensive views to Massachusetts Bay in the south, but few landscape amenities. Extensive stone retaining walls created level areas for lawn, terraces and swimming pool. Terraces address the new family room and screen porch, the principal view through the house, an informal gravel area for a future firepit, and the pool. The pool was placed three feet lower than the house and to one side, with plantings to minimize its visual impact in winter.
